Exhibitors: About the Conference On May 28-29, 2010, Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend will host the 4th Annual Texas Foster Youth Conference bringing together foster youth from across the state to offer informative workshops on stimulating topics of interest to increase their life skills knowledge and guide them on their path to personal and economic fulfillment. Target audience is youth between the ages of 14 to 24 who are preparing to enter adulthood. Exhibiting at the Conference We invite all Texas colleges and universities, social service agencies and employers to be represented at this conference. Exhibiting at the 2010 Rise Up! Fostering New Beginnings State Youth Conference provides an excellent opportunity to connect with foster youth as they prepare for their transition to adulthood. Colleges and universities will gain maximum exposure with these youth who are eligible for full tuition at any higher education institute in the state of Texas. The Education and Training Voucher Program (ETV Program) allows the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to expand and supplement the current assistance provided to former and eligible foster care youth and specifically, helps them to begin, continue and/or complete their educational and vocational goals. Youth who are in or age out of foster care, or who are adopted from foster care after turning 16 years old are eligible to receive postsecondary educational and training vouchers. Employers—help foster youth to prepare for their future by providing information on career paths and positions available in your organization. Social Service Agencies—educate foster youth on resources you have to offer. Help them help themselves to become self-sufficient and independent.
